History of Cadillac

The history of the brand is represented by the release of interesting car models, almost each of which was a breakthrough at its own stage. The eight-cylinder engine, which replaced its four-cylinder predecessor in 1915, was gradually improved. So, in 1918, the manufacturer began to use removable cylinder heads, and in 1924, a counterbalanced crankshaft was invented. “Innovation” has significantly reduced the noise level of vehicles. In addition, 1924 was marked by the first front-brake Cadillac cars.

Only in 1948 did a completely new Cadillac see the light - corresponding to the spirit and requirements of its time. It had long front fenders and small rear fenders, which would later become fashionable for all cars of the 50s.

In 1953, Cadillac released the luxurious Eldorado convertible. He is a representative of the class of personal luxury cars. And in 1957, the ultra-luxury Eldorado Brougham was released, which served more for the aesthetic satisfaction of the discerning public than for solving transport problems. The model existed for 3 years, and ceased to exist in 1960.

Cadillac of the 80s tended towards compactness and chopped shapes. To the credit of the manufacturer, it can be noted that the internal space, which determines the comfort for passengers, not only did not decrease, but even increased. Convertibles have returned to the lineup due to renewed demand.

1999 is truly a landmark year for the manufacturer, and the echoes of the decisions made then ensure the success of the brand to this day. An SUV appeared in the lineup for the first time. This is the Cadillac Escalade, which is still one of the most popular models of the brand. It has become almost a symbol of Cadillac - with its choppy design, premium level of equipment and inexpressible charisma. The same year marked the beginning of rebranding, and instead of romantic names, the manufacturer began assigning letter abbreviations to its models. The first was the rear-wheel drive CTS sedan, then the SRX crossover and XLR roadster, Cadillac Seville was renamed STS.

Today, Cadillac is the standard of luxury and premiumness, a car that can effectively emphasize the status of its owner. It is successfully sold in fifty countries around the world, but more in North America. Among the expected new products is the Cadillac XT4, which was already presented at the New York Auto Show, and is preparing to appear in official dealer showrooms towards the end of 2018.
