History of Brilliance

 Brilliance China Auto (CBA) is a Chinese automobile manufacturing company. The company's production facilities are located in Shenyang, China. It produces cars, minibuses and components for them. However, the company's main focus is the design, development, production and sale of passenger cars sold under the Brilliance brand. The entire Brilliance range.

The holding's subsidiary, Shenyang Brilliance JinBei Automobile, also produces JinBei and Granse minibuses. The total production of these brands exceeds 60,000 units per year.

 

Since 2002, the company's factories have been producing Zhonghua and Zunchi sedans. The Zhonghua design was commissioned from the Italian Italdesign. In 2003, Brilliance created a joint venture with the BMW Group. By 2006, sales of BMW Brilliance reached 15,300 BMW vehicles. The joint venture produces the BMW 3 Series and 5 Series, and in 2012 production of the BMW X1 began.

They consist of 60% imported components, so these cars are not very different from those produced at other BMW factories. In addition, it is planned to establish our own engine production, then it will be possible to increase the total production capacity to 300,000 units per year.

In total, as of 2010, the automaker Brilliance and its subsidiaries have an annual production capacity of 800,000 units. The company sold nearly 650,000 vehicles in 2012, ranking 8th in terms of production among Chinese manufacturers that year. About 70% of production were consumer sedans. In addition to the full production cycle for automobile production, Brilliance supplies the market with engines and other components for automobiles.

 

In 2007, the BS6 sedan failed a crash test conducted by the German ADAC. It received only one out of a possible five stars in the Euro NCAP rating. The company redesigned the car, improving about sixty of its components, and also received a three-star rating in a crash test conducted by the Spanish IDIADA.

However, the alterations affected the cost. The relatively high price and damage to its image following unsuccessful crash tests led to exports to Europe being stopped in April 2010, with no concrete plans to resume them.
